Holy Cross Church

The first building of the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche dates back to the 13th century. lt was completely destroyed in the town fire of 1689. On the old foundation walls the present church was erected under the influence of the Vorarlberg Architectural School (Franz Beer, 1660 - 1726, and Leonhard Albrecht, 1671 - 1734). The church has a dominant three-storey tower. The nave is divided into three aisles by rows of pillars. Old walls can be seen in the Gothic choir. The high altar was created by Franz Lichtenauer in 1740. The left side choir called Josefs-Chörlein (Joseph's little choir) houses a Renaissance crucifix dating back to 1521.
